Summer Camp Update (May 12th)

Dear Parents, Campers and Staff:

Ephesians 1:2 says “Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”

We are thankful to know the peace of God and that we can commit our circumstances to Him! We are unsure how the impact of COVID-19 will affect the summer camp season at THRBC, but we look forward to seeing how God will work. Like other organizations, we do not know exactly how the next several months will unfold, but we want to communicate with you regarding our current plans for the 2020 summer camp season.

Our intention is to meet the requirements and recommendations issued by the State of Missouri. Current executive orders are active through May 31st, and we anticipate that future executive orders will recommend reopening many aspects of our communities. In anticipation of this, we are making the following changes to our summer camp calendar:

  • ●  Weekend of May 22nd, Memorial Day Family Camp, is cancelled.
  • ●  Week of May 31st, Junior 1 and Girls Ranch Hand 1, are cancelled. Campers of Junior 1 aregiven the opportunity to move to the week of June 28th (new) Jr. Camp 3.5.

Girls Ranch Hand 1 is moving to Girls Ranch Hand 3.5 (new) June 28th.

  • ●  Week of June 7th, Junior 2 / Exploration day camp / Girls Ranch Hand 2, are cancelled.Campers of Junior 2 are given the opportunity to move to the week of June 28th (new) Jr. Camp 3.5. Please be aware that as we monitor the situation there is a very real possibility for further changes or cancellations.

Please note the following regarding rescheduling:

  • ●  Capacity preference will be given to Junior 1, Junior 2, for the new week of June 28th.Unfortunately, we will not have the capacity for all registrants with the combined weeks, so please let us know if you plan to voluntarily withdraw from this new week or the combined Boys Wilderness week. We would like others to be able to attend if you choose not to. In the event we are still overbooked after voluntary withdrawals, capacity preference will be given in the order registrations were received. We regret that this may prevent some who are currently registered from coming to camp, but we ask for your patience and understanding in these unforeseen and unusual circumstances.
  • ●  Furthermore, we are evaluating the need to operate at a reduced capacity for all weeks due to concern for camper safety. If you wish to voluntarily withdraw from any week, please let us know so that others may attend. As with the combined week, if we determine that we must operate at a reduced overall capacity, preference will be given in the order registrations were received.
  • ●  In the event you wish to cancel your registration, or are not able to come due to capacity restrictions, you may request a refund or let us know if you wish to donate your registration fee. You may also register for a different week of camp, but availability is very limited at this time.No doubt you will have many questions regarding the details of how camp will function this summer. While we desire to operate safely at THRBC, we ask that each family or guardian make their own determination about attending camp. We will require a liability waiver for all campers and summer staff acknowledging responsibility for the risks assumed in the current environment. We are developing training and processes to minimize the spread of COVID-19 while camp is in session. These processes include additional regular cleaning and sanitizing routines, registrant screening, regular temperature checks, as well as a modification in social practices for chapel, cabins, activities, dining, and more. We plan to make these available in the coming weeks, but nothing will replace the precaution of your own preparedness.

Once again, we ask for your patience as we navigate these circumstances. We will do our best to plan and communicate in a timely manner. We are trusting God’s guidance as we try to find balance between opening our doors to the campers to see each of you and being safe as well as socially responsible. With new challenges come new opportunities, so we look forward to seeing God’s faithfulness!
